03 — THE CHALLENGE

How do you keep 28 engineering disciplines working as one system?

How do you keep 28 engineering disciplines working as one system?

THE CHALLENGE

A governmental facility of approximately 55,000 sqm brought together around 28 engineering and specialist consultant offices within one highly demanding planning environment. At this scale, individual disciplines cannot operate independently. Decisions in one system affect architecture, structure, infrastructure, building systems and other consultants across the project.

04 — THE IB ROLE

The role was not structural design. The role was to make the planning system work together.

The role was not structural design. The role was to make the planning system work together.

IB Engineering led the multidisciplinary planning coordination process, connecting the consultant teams, identifying interfaces between disciplines, coordinating planning decisions and helping maintain alignment across the wider project.

GOVERNMENTAL FACILITY — MULTIDISCIPLINARY PLANNING COORDINATION

05 — THE RESULT

A coordinated multidisciplinary planning process capable of managing the complexity, interfaces and demanding requirements of a major governmental facility.

Complex projects are not coordinated by adding more consultants. They are coordinated by making many specialists think as one project.
